Tuesday, April 24, is the 97th anniversary of the beginning of the Armenian Genocide and Fresno State will commemorate it with several events, beginning with a presentation by author and scholar Dr. Richard Hovannisian at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19. A Martyrs Day observance on campus is scheduled at noon Tuesday, April 24, in the Free Speech Area. Hovannisian, a professor emeritus of modern Armenian history at UCLA, will speak about recent travels in western Armenia at the Leon S. and Pete P. Peters Educational Center in the Student Recreation Center. Parking for the free, public event is available in Lots A and V with a parking code.
