Fresno State’s new live mascot, five-month-old Victor E. Bulldog II, enjoyed a warm welcome from the Red Wave at his debut Sept. 15 as the football Bulldogs were as hot as the weather in defeating Colorado at Bulldog Stadium.

Victor E. II’s predecessor succumbed to cancer in August.

Dr. Kelly Weaver and Dr. Chris Dobbins, both veterinarians at Fresno’s PetER, donated Victor E. II to Fresno State. They worked with the original Victor E. and plan to help train and monitor his successor filling some mighty paw prints left by the university’s animal ambassador of goodwill, determination and competitive spirit.

Fans can get a glimpse of Victor E. II at 7 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Homecoming game when Fresno State renews one of its longest-running football rivalries against San Diego State.
