The Association for the Promotion of International Culture at Fresno State will host the annual International Culture Night, “Around the World in 80 Minutes,” in the Satellite Student Union 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.

A variety of student clubs and international students will participate with musical and dance performances representing cultures from multiple countries. The night will end with a fashion show presenting authentic ethnic clothing from around the world.

The annual event has been hosted for almost three decades by the Association for the Promotion of International Culture (APIC), a student-run organization.

Vice President of the 2012 International Culture Night committee Giovanni Patricia said most of the organization’s members are international students.

“The goal is to introduce the Central Valley community to the cultures of students from around the globe,” Patricia said. “This is important because not many people in the community know that Fresno is highly desirable educational destinations in the United States for hundreds of international students.”

According to Dr. Paul Hofmann, director of International Student Services and Programs, there are currently 376 international students enrolled at Fresno State.

The evening will include performances from the Aztec Dance Club, Lao Student Association, Armenian Students Organization, Contemporary Dance Ensemble, Malaysian Student Organization, Los Danzantes de Aztlan, Fresno State Salsa Club and Indian Student Club.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6 p.m.
