Fresno State’s CineCulture kicks off its spring 2013 film series with Fresno Filmworks and the Fresno Philharmonic 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, when they present “A Late Quartet” at the Tower Theater (815 E. Olive Avenue). The 2012 film stars Christopher Walken as a cellist diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The plot is inspired by and structured around Beethoven’s Opus 131 String Quartet in C-sharp minor. Fresno State music professor and local musician Dr. Benjamin Boone will lead the post-screening discussion moderated by Filmworks board member Stanley Poss. Tickets cost $10 for general admission, $8 for students/seniors and are available through the Tower Theater box office by cash or check.
