The flags on the Fresno State campus will be lowered to half-staff on Friday, Feb. 15, in memory of retired football coach Jim Sweeney, who died Feb. 8, and Dr. P.J. Mistry, professor emeritus of Linguistics, who died Nov. 12. Two memorials are set for Saturday, Feb. 16, on campus. Mr. Sweeney, 83, of Fresno, coached for 19 seasons, 1976-77 and 1980-1996. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bulldog Stadium. Dr. Mistry, 80, of Fresno, taught at Fresno State from 1969-2004 and was a founding member of the Linguistics Department. A memorial for him will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Alice Peters Auditorium, Room 191 in the Peters Business Building.
