Women’s History Month kicks off at Fresno State beginning at 4 p.m. March 1 in the Peters Educational Auditorium (Shaw and Woodrow Aves.) with a lecture examining actress Marilyn Monroe followed by a book signing and film screening. Author Lois Banner, professor of History and Gender Studies at the University of Southern California  and a pioneer of women’s history, will discuss “Marilyn Monroe: Uncovering the Mysteries of her Life and Death.”  Following the discussion, the Monroe film “The Misfits” (1961) will be screened at 5:30 p.m.  Banner also will sign her book, “Marilyn: The Passion and the Paradox,” before and after the film screening.
