The 14th Annual Armenian Film Festival from 7-10 p.m. Friday, March 8, will feature five films from a new generation of Armenian film makers.

Presented by the Armenian Studies Program and the Armenian Students Organization and supported by the Thomas A Kooyumjian Family Foundation, this free public event will be held at Fresno State’s Industrial Technology Building, Room 101 (Barstow and Campus Drive, east of Cedar.)

The films portray a variety of themes and are in English or Armenian with the latter films subtitled in English.

One of the featured films, “Metzarents,” is the story of Vahag, a struggling actor in Los Angeles who reconnects with his long dormant Armenian roots when he is offered to play the role of poet Misak Metsarents. Filmmaker Hayk Hambartsum will present his film at the festival.

The four other short films that will be screened are “My Mother’s Voice,” “After Water There is Sand,” “The Epiphany” and “The Woman.”

The nearest parking lots are K, L and Q and free after 4 p.m. on Fridays. For more information, contact the Armenian Studies Program office at 559.278.2669.
