Fresno State’s Madden Library and the Fresno County Public Library will host four free sessions on grants and foundations Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21.
This free resource is intended to help non-profits, who support the less fortunate throughout the Central Valley, survive tough economic times and continue serving the community.
“Many small nonprofits in the Central Valley are helping those hit hard by this difficult economy, but they don’t have the resources to hire a professional grant writer. With free library resources and a partnership with the Foundation Center-San Francisco, we’re excited to offer these programs that will enable them to gain the critical skills needed to continue their good work.” Lisa Lindsay, Fresno County Public Library.
Sarah Jo Neubauer, of the Foundation Center-San Francisco, will be leading the workshops. Before joining the Foundation Center, Neubauer worked at UC Santa Cruz’s Women’s Studies Library and main library. Seating is limited and registration is required.

Neubauer will provide an overview of the funding process for nonprofits seeking grants from foundations, corporations, and grantmaking public charities. The world of grantmakers, the grantseeking process, and tools and resources will be covered. Introduction to Finding Funders: 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Neubauer will introduce the comprehensive database Foundation Directory Online and show how to conduct customized searches to develop targeted lists of foundations that match funding needs.
