The Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) will celebrate its 25th Anniversary at 6 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the Smittcamp Alumni House at Fresno State (2625 E. Matoian Way).  The group, which teaches parents to become advocates for their children’s education while helping students achieve academic success, will honor retiring Fresno State President John D. Welty with its PIQE Legacy Award. More than 550,000 parents have graduated from PIQE, an independent statewide non-profit organization. The Fresno regional office has served 211 schools in 51 districts, graduating more than 21,600 parents from PIQE’s programs since it opened in 1995.
