Fresno State associate professor Betsy Hays is one of 14 Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) members to be inducted into the organization’s College of Fellows this fall.

The College of Fellows, founded in 1989, is a community of more than 300 senior PRSA members who have advanced the public relations profession and distinguished themselves through their experience and leadership. Admission is limited to practitioners or educators with at least 20 years of experience, who are Accredited in Public Relations and have demonstrated exceptional capability and accomplishment in the practice or teaching of public relations.

A selection committee of current fellows solicited and reviewed applications and recommended this year’s group of candidates to the board.

“PRSA has been a very important part of my career and I am happy beyond words to have been selected for induction into the College of Fellows. What a beautiful milestone,” said Hays, who has taught public relations in Fresno State’s Department of Mass Communication and Journalism for 14 years.

Before joining Fresno State, Hays worked in public relations for Saint Agnes Medical Center and Deen & Black Public Relations (now Ogilvy PR Worldwide).

The new fellows will be formally inducted at a dinner on Oct. 26 at the PRSA 2013 International Conference in Philadelphia.
