Ümit Kurt, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of History at Clark University in Massachusetts, will speak on “The Emergence of the New Wealthy Class Between 1915-1922: The Seizure of Armenian Property by Local Elites in Aintab,” 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17 in the Alice Peters Auditorium, Rm. 191 in the Peters Business Building. Kurt, a native of Aintab, studied at Middle East Technical University and Sabancı University, both in Turkey. The free, public event is part of the Armenian Studies Program Spring Lecture Series and is co-sponsored by the Armenian Students Organizations at Fresno State.
