Dr. Robert O. Marquez, an engineer who designed a low technology brick kiln system that decreases the amount of air pollution, will discuss “Natural and Native Materials for Sustainable Solutions in ELP Communities” from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today (Oct. 24), at the Satellite Student Union. The free, public event is presented by the Lyles College of Engineering Pathways to Engineering and Construction Management Careers project. In addition to his kiln design, Marquez is renowned for his work with water quality and disadvantaged communities in Africa, Guatemala, Mexico and the United States.
