Lectures, panel discussions and performances will unfold across the Fresno State campus Nov. 12-17 for International Education Week, culminating with the 30th anniversary of International Culture Night.

The free, public events are designed to highlight programs that help Americans gain global experience. This year’s theme is, “The World is Hiring.” A full list of activities is available at International Education Week .

The celebration is sponsored by the Division of Continuing and Global Education, Study Abroad and International Exchanges, American English Institute, International Student Services and Programs and USU Productions. International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education.

Keynote speaker Jean-Marc Hachey will conduct three different sessions about international careers and how to achieve success from 12:30-2 p.m. and 3-4 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the Kremen Education Building room 140 and 9:30-10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 14 in Peters Business room 31.

Hachey will share his experiences with international careers. He worked overseas for the United Nations High Commissioner for RefugeesWorld University Service of CanadaCanadian Crossroads International and the German Volunteer Service.

Roman archaeologist Dr. Darius Arya will present, “Instagramming History: Engaging Culture through Digital Media,” 3-4 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Family Food Science room 213. Arya is a professor, documentary host and executive director of the American Institute for Roman Culture, a non-profit organization which promotes and defends Rome’s heritage through projects and unique teaching experiences for university-level students.

Arya has appeared in documentaries for the Discovery, History and National Geographic cable channels and has been cited in articles in the New York Times, The Guardian and BBC. Most recently, he is appearing as expert on National Geographic’s “When Rome Ruled.”

The 30th Annual International Culture Night will conclude the week’s events at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, in the Satellite Student Union.
