Emerging Latino filmmaker Julio Hernández Cordón will be at Fresno State for the screening of his “Marimbas from Hell” at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6. The screening by CineCulture is part of the Latin Film Festival from Nov. 1-Dec. 5. The free, public film will be shown in the Alice Peters Auditorium, room 191, in the Peters Business Building. The 75-minute film (Spanish with English subtitles) explores the boundaries of fiction and documentary. Cordon will lead a discussion following the screening. A native of Raleigh, N.C., he was raised in México, Guatemala and Costa Rica and earned a degree in communication sciences at the University of Rafael Landívar in Guatemala before studying filmmaking at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in México.
