“Haute Cuisine” will be CineCulture’s final film screening for the fall semester at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at the Tower Theater (815 E. Olive Ave.) with Fresno Filmworks. The 95-minute film (French with English subtitles) is a political comedy based on the memoir of Danièle Mazet-Delpeuch, who was the private chef for French president François Mitterrand. It tells the story of Hortense, a renowned chef who is recruited to be a personal cook for the president of the Republic, making her the first woman to prepare food in the Elysée Palace amid the clashing personalities and strict protocols of the jealous all-male kitchen staff. Following the film, French cook Patrick Bourrel, owner of La Boulangerie French Bakery & Café in Fresno  who spent his childhood around a kitchen in France, will lead a discussion. Pastries from the bakery will be available in concessions. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for students at FresnoFilmworks.org. INFO: Dr. Mary Husain at mhusain@csufresno.edu.
