Fresno State’s Es Tu Dios Catholic student organization presents its 17th annual Las Mañanitas to La Virgen de Guadalupe Procession and Mass at 6 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, in the Free Speech Area north of the Madden Library. It starts with a procession to Saint Paul Catholic Newman Center (1572 E. Barstow Ave. across from Bulldog Stadium) where Mass will be celebrated for the traditional Mexican Catholic religious observance commemorating the apparition of the Virgin Mary to the Mexican Indian Juan Diego in 1531. A reception follows at the church’s Cardinal Newman Hall at 8 a.m. with mariachi, guest speakers and breakfast (menudo, pan dulce, hot chocolate and coffee).
