I join my colleagues in the California State University system and other universities across the country in strongly opposing the recent call by some scholarly associations for a boycott of Israeli academic institutions.
Academic freedom is a core principle of our university, and the American Studies Association’s call for a boycott of Israeli academic institutions is directly opposed to that principle.
Fresno State is a place where students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members can come together to research, discuss and debate all issues of the day and develop new approaches and solutions to those issues. To restrict academic freedom in order to advance political causes runs counter to our mission.
