The Fresno State Winery’s Unleashed wine club will host its inaugural Winemaker’s Dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 29 at Bella Pasta in Fresno. The Fresno State Winery will announce it recently won a silver medal for the Legacy Classic Chardonnay at the Consumer’s Wine Awards. The wine was created by students in the Fresno State Winery and released last April to commemorate the tenure of retiring president John D. Welty and his contributions to the university’s Viticulture and Enology program. Following appetizers, a four-course meal will feature a pairing of a Fresno State wine with each course, handpicked by Fresno State winemaker John Giannini and poured by two senior Enology students. Open to club members only, the dinner is already sold out. However, additional dinners are planned for summer and fall.
