The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) has appointed Dr. Peter Smits as its inaugural Senior Fellow. Smits, who will retire as Fresno State’s vice president for University Advancement in June, will lead a nationwide research project on the characteristics of philanthropy at educational institutions.

“The goal of the project is to examine best practices on the ways campuses identify, measure and grow their culture of philanthropy,” Smits said.

He will work with universities across the country, including the 23 campuses of the California State University system, that are collaborating with CASE on the project.

CASE is a professional association serving educational institutions and the advancement professionals who work on their behalf in alumni relations, communications, development, marketing and allied areas.
