Internationally acclaimed violinist Vadim Gluzman will visit Fresno State this week as part of the Philip Lorenz Memorial Keyboard Concert series. During his visit, Gluzman will work with students and perform two concerts for the public.

“This is a remarkable opportunity for our students to learn from an incredible artist,” said Dr. Thomas Loewenheim, director of the Fresno State Symphony Orchestra. “He is truly one of the best in the world.”

On Thursday, April 24, Gluzman will perform a chamber music concert accompanied by his wife, pianist Angela Yoffee, with Loewenheim on cello. That program includes Haydn’s piano trio “Gypsy,” Prokofiev’s Violin Sonata and Dvorak’s piano trip “Dumky.”

On Saturday, April 26, Gluzman will perform with the Fresno State Symphony Orchestra. The evening will feature Shostakovich’s Festive Overture and Symphony No. 1, as well as Dvarionas’ Violin Concerto.

Both concerts are at 8 p.m. in the Fresno State Concert Hall.

Born in the former Soviet Union and raised in Israel, Gluzman is a regular featured guest with orchestras around the world including the Chicago Symphony, London Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony.

Tickets for the concerts are available online for $18 for the general public, $12 for seniors and $5 for students.
