More than 3,300 people have made reservations to attend the historic, special ceremony marking the investiture of Dr. Joseph I. Castro as Fresno State’s eighth president from 2-4 p.m. May 10 at the Save Mart Center. Guests can RSVP for the ceremony online through Friday, May 2. When CSU Chancellor Timothy P. White formally confers the authority and symbols of high office on Castro, it will mark the first time a Valley native and a Latino receives the California State University, Fresno Presidential Medallion in the institution’s 103-year history. Among those expected to witness the ceremony will be about 2,000 students of all ages from Valley schools. Free and open to the public, Castro’s investiture will be followed by a community picnic on the lawn south of the Save Mart Center, featuring student-produced food items such as the new Bulldog Hot Dogs from the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology.
