The Fourth Annual National Night Out Block Party will be 5-10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5 at El Dorado Park (1343 E. Barstow Ave.) next to Wesley United Methodist Church, west of Bulldog Stadium. This nationwide effort promotes involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. This year, Fresno will compete in the nationwide competition for the Best Community/Neighborhood Block Party Award, said Ashleigh Rocker, program and volunteer coordinator for Fresno State’s Associated Students, Inc. City officials are expected to join police chiefs Jerry Dyer of Fresno and David Huerta of Fresno State.
