Fresno State CineCulture and Fresno Filmworks will present a screening of the film “Life Itself,” at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 at the Tower Theatre. The independent documentary recounts the life of legendary film critic Roger Ebert who lost his life to cancer in 2013. Filmmaker Steve James will highlight Ebert’s life as one of the most influential cultural commentators in America and his involvement with the creation of the popular “Thumbs up, Thumbs down” movie review system.  The film will also feature interviews with Donna LaPietra, the producer of “Siskel and Ebert at the Movies,” and filmmakers Werner Herzog, Errol Morris and Martin Scorsese among others. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for students and seniors by check or cash at the Tower Theatre box office, 815 E.
