Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson, vice president for Administration and chief financial officer at Fresno State, was named one of the Marjaree Mason Center’s Top Ten Professional Women for 2014.

Teniente-Matson will be among ten honorees at the 31st Annual Top Ten Professional Women and Top Business Awards ceremony Friday, Oct.17 at the Fresno Convention Center New Exhibit Hall from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.  More than 800 attendees will help the Marjaree Mason Center honor local professionals and businesses for their outstanding work in the community while also raising awareness for domestic violence.

Named after a former Fresno State business administration student, the Marjaree Mason Center, was founded in 1979 and operates Fresno County’s only domestic violence shelters.

Actress Taylor Armstrong will be the guest speaker at the awards luncheon.

The awards luncheon will also feature keynote speaker Taylor Armstrong, the TV personality best known for her role on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” The New York Times best-selling author and philanthropist will share her personal battle with domestic violence and her triumph in becoming a survivor.

Teniente-Matson joined Fresno State in 2004 and serves as chief business officer for the university and its six auxiliary corporations. She led the Henry Madden Library revitalization and fundraising, the campus wide development of the university’s 2006-07 comprehensive master plan and is instrumental in numerous community partnerships that help the region and the campus advance its initiatives.

As head of Fresno State’s Division of Administrative Services, she oversees auxiliary services, technology services, facilities management, financial services, human resources and public safety.

Dr. Joseph I. Castro, president of Fresno State, praised Teniente-Matson for her public service and volunteer engagement. “She has a special passion for women’s leadership and developing aspiring university business officers,” he said.

Teniente-Matson chairs the Fresno State Association, Inc., the California State University, Fresno Athletic Corporation the President’s Commission on Human Relations and Equity, the CSU Business Officers and the CSU Risk Management Authority (CSURMA).

She is past board chair of the National Association for College and University Business Officers  and past president of the Western Association of College and University Business Officers. She is a regular speaker for these organizations’ national audiences on contemporary issues in higher education administration as well as for the Association of College Unions International Women’s Leadership Institute.

Teniente-Matson has a wide range of public service including board leadership with the Central Valley Business Incubator (CVBI) and the El Dorado Park Community Development Corporation. She is past chair of the Fresno Council of Government’s Measure C Citizens Oversight Committee and a past board member for Leadership California and Special Olympics of Alaska.

She completed a doctorate in educational leadership at Fresno State in spring 2013.

Tickets to the awards luncheon are $60 each or $575 for a table of 10.
