Adults age 50 and older are invited to participate in fall semester classes, lectures and field trips as part of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Fresno State. OLLI provides non-credit, university-level learning opportunities for older adults on the Fresno State campus.

The curriculum includes six general lecture sessions, 14 different short courses, a book club and seven scheduled field trips. The $40 fee includes attendance and parking for all general sessions and eligibility to attend courses and field trips for a small additional fee.

General session topics focus on current issues, including an update on the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office; information on hunger in the community from the Community Food Bank; and Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin and Clovis Mayor Lynne Ashbeck sharing their perspectives of local government.

Among the fall courses are: Writing Your Memoirs, Paris in the Jazz Age and The Philosophy of Love. Field trips will visit the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco, the California Science Center in Los Angeles and The Clark Center in Hanford.

OLLI connects curious learners and knowledgeable instructors, including Fresno State and other area faculty, authors and artists. There are no tests, grades or exams — just a chance to learn for the sake of learning.

The OLLI program is a part of the university’s Division of Continuing and Global Education.
