WEATHER UPDATE (5:55 a.m. Dec. 12) from Es Tu Dios : Due to the heavy rain, the #LasMañanitas procession at 6 a.m. is canceled and we will continue our Rosary at the St. Paul Newman Center inside the chapel.
The 18th annual Las Mañanitas to La Virgen de Guadalupe Procession and Mass, presented by Fresno State’s Es Tu Dios Catholic student organization, will begin at 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, in the Free Speech Area north of the Madden Library. It starts with the procession to Saint Paul Catholic Newman Center (1572 E. Barstow Ave., across from Bulldog Stadium) where Mass will be celebrated at 7 a.m. for the traditional Mexican Catholic religious observance commemorating the apparition of the Virgin Mary to Juan Diego in 1531. A reception follows at the church’s Cardinal Newman Hall at 8 a.m. with mariachi, guest speakers and breakfast (menudo, pan dulce, hot chocolate and coffee).
