The Fresno State Gleaning Network will be executing a solution to address food insecurity and waste in the Central Valley with a gleaning of oranges at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at 4647 Maroa Ave. The project gives students the opportunity to address global issues as part of the Clinton Global Initiative established by President Bill Clinton in 2005. Student groups and volunteers will hand-pick produce that remains in the orchards and fields after mechanical or commercial harvest, and then deliver those products to various local distribution agencies. The fruits and vegetables are given to over 2,000 people in need throughout the Central Valley.
