Fresno State President Joseph I. Castro announced the appointment of alumnus Eddie Tan of Fresno to the University Advisory Board, a panel of community members who provide advice on improvement and development of the university.

Tan is president of two companies operating in the Valley: Eco Team Inc., which consults with poultry companies on production practices employing the use of iPad/tablet technology, and Golden Valley Farming Group Inc., which uses sustainable and innovative production techniques in growing and marketing antibiotic-free chickens that are slow grown for improved flavor and texture qualities.

A native of Malaysia, Tan studied Animal Science at Fresno State and was involved in research and development at the Poultry Unit.

Tan and his wife Adelyn have one son.

“Eddie has deep professional experience in agriculture and is passionate and knowledgeable about Bulldog athletics,” said Castro. “He will be of great value to the advisory board as we work together to serve the University.”

The University Advisory Board, chaired by Sandy Brown, includes members Juan Arambula, Nancy Ayala, Armen Bacon, Barry Bedwell, Noemi Donoso, Katherine Flores, Jessica Lawrence, Will Lyles, J. Michael McGowan, James Shekoyan, Julie Tone and Zoua Vang.
