The Latin American Film Festival and CineCulture at Fresno State present the Brazilian film Rio 2096 Uma História de Amor e Fúria” at 5:30 p.m. Friday, March 6 at the Leon S. and Pete P. Peters Educational Center in the Student Recreation Center (Woodrow and Shaw avenues). Using a graphic novel slant, the 98-minute animated film (Portuguese with English subtitles) revolves around the love between an immortal hero and Janaína, the woman he has been in love with for 600 years. Director Luiz Bolognesi has set the story in four phases of Brazil’s history: colonization, slavery, military regime and the future. This free, public screening is co-sponsored by the Chicano and Latin American Studies Department and the History Department. Weekend parking is free beginning at 4 p.m. on Fridays.
