The public is invited to the Fifth Annual National Night Out Neighborhood Block Party 4-10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at El Dorado Park (1343 E. Barstow Ave.) next to Wesley United Methodist Church, west of Bulldog Stadium. Communities across the United States, Canada and international military bases celebrate National Night Out, an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Participants in the events are encouraged to spend the evening outdoors with other neighborhood residents. The local celebration includes dance performances, a free dinner at 6:30 p.m. and an outdoor movie screening from 8:30-10 p.m. Organizations interested in hosting a booth or activity can fill out an application at bit.ly/FS-NightOutClubApp.  Individuals also may register to volunteer at the event by completing an online form at bit.ly/FS-NightOutVolApp. University sponsors for the event include Fresno State Associated Students.
