The Second Annual Red Wave Run set for Sunday, Oct. 11, will provide the whole family with a fitting conclusion to Fresno State’s Homecoming Weekend now underway.
The online registration deadline is midnight Thursday, Oct. 8, to get discounts including a special ticket rate for the Homecoming football game Saturday night.
Presented by the Fresno State track and field program, the race Sunday morning features a 5K Run and two Kids Races, all finishing in Bulldog Stadium.
The 5K run begins at 7:15 a.m. on Cedar Avenue, winding its way through the Fresno State campus and finishing with a run onto Jim Sweeney Field in Bulldog Stadium.
The Kids Run — open to children up to age 12 in two divisions — starts at 8 a.m. on Jim Sweeney Field. Ages 8 and under will run a quarter-mile, and ages 9-12 will run a half-mile.
Registration prices are $15 for current students; $25 for Fresno State community (alumni, faculty and staff); and $35 general admission. ID’s are required at packet pickup.
Registration after the deadline will increase by $10, including on race day.
The race package includes a Red Wave Run shirt and overall and age group awards.
Also, advance registration by Oct. 8 includes an exclusive offer to purchase a $20 football ticket to the Fresno State vs. Utah State football game on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Aaron Samansky, former Bulldog runner on the men’s track and field team, and his Fleet Feet Sports Fresno are once again the major sponsor and race organizer of the Second Annual Red Wave 5K Run.
This event will take place rain or shine, organizers advise.
