Fresno State is hosting a site visit by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission Oct. 20-22 as part of the university’s accreditation review. Two public events are planned Oct. 20, starting with an Open Forum from 3:45-4:45 p.m. in the Henry Madden Library, room 2206, followed by a “Celebrate Fresno State” poster session and reception from 5-6 p.m. in North Gym 118. The WASC is the accrediting body for the western region of the United States. Accreditation, which is the process for evaluating and assuring the quality of educational institutions and programs, assures stakeholders that a university has been rigorously evaluated and that it meets or exceeds the accreditation standards. Accreditation is also required for students to qualify for participation in federal financial aid programs. WASC team meetings will also be held with various campus constituent groups.
