Fresno State’s CineCulture presents “The Second Mother/Que Horas Ela Volta” at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 in the Leon S. and Pete P. Peters Educational Center (west of Save Mart Center in the Student Recreation Center Building) as part of the Latin American Film Festival.

The Brazilian film looks at the life of Val, a live-in housekeeper for a wealthy family in São Paulo whose estranged daughter Jessica shows up and disturbs the dynamic in the household, challenging the idea of family. The movie is in Portuguese with English subtitles.

It also the last Latin American Film Festival screening this semester, which was part of university’s observance of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Discussant will be Dr. Maria-Aparecida Lopes, associate professor in the Department of Chicano and Latin American Studies, which is a co-sponsor of this screening along with the Department of History.

All CineCulture events held on campus are free and open to the public.

Weekend parking is free after 4 p.m. on Fridays but since a Bulldogs football game is that night, tailgate parking fees are in effect. CineCulture guests however may park free by obtaining a pass from a representative stationed at the Shaw and Woodrow entrance between 5-5:20 p.m. Identify yourself as a CineCulture guest to parking attendants.
