Fresno State welcomes parents and family members to join their students at the fifth annual Family Weekend Oct. 16-17, which features campus tours, a tailgate prior to the Bulldogs’ nationally-televised football game that Friday night and a photo opportunity with live mascot Victor E. III.

Dog Days: New Student Orientation hosts the annual event with several price packages available ranging from $10-$65.

Activities begin at 2 p.m. Friday with an ice cream social and campus advisers in the University Student Union (rooms 312-314).

The tailgate Friday night before the football game against UNLV will be from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Margie Wright Diamond concourse (southeast corner of Cedar and Barstow avenues). The tailgate dinner includes tri-tip, chicken, pilaf, salad, garlic bread and beverages, including Fresno State’s award-winning, student-produced wine. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Family Weekend continues Saturday with the option to tour the campus or the Save Mart Center at 9 a.m., followed by brunch from 10 a.m.-noon at the Smittcamp Alumni House. Photos with Victor E. III are scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

Also scheduled for Saturday are financial aid and scholarship workshops 11:15-11:45 a.m., a winery tour and tasting at noon and a Gibson Farm Market tour at 1 p.m.

The Dog Days Package (ice cream social, tailgate dinner, a football ticket, campus tours and Saturday brunch) is priced at $65 per person. Guests have the option of creating their own package with each item sold separately starting at $10 with the Campus Package (tours, workshops and brunch only).
