Fresno State will observe National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week with the free Wild West Awareness Fest from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the North Gym (Room 118).

Presented by the Peer Ambassadors of Wellness (PAWs) through the Student Health and Counseling Center, this year’s theme will employ western- and rodeo-style activities for students to enjoy while learning about responsible and safe drinking behavior.

“Each year for National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, the PAWs plan fun and interactive ways to educate Fresno State students about safe drinking behaviors, alcohol overdose awareness and using a designated driver,” said Georgianna Negron-Long, health educator for Fresno State’s Student Health and Counseling Center.

On-campus and community partners will host activities including a raffle for prizes, line dancing, riding a mechanical bull, a photo booth and free food.
