Fresno State’s Student Cupboard will mark its first anniversary from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, in the Grosse Industrial Tech building (Room 144).

Dr. Frank Lamas, vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, will welcome guests for a reception celebrating the Food Security Project.

The project also launched its Catered Cupboard component this fall on Fresno State’s official mobile app “Mobile @ Fresno State.” With the app, students can be invited to events on campus that have leftover food.

In its first year, the Student Cupboard moved to a larger location on campus, and is now open six days (30 hours) a week. At the cupboard, students present their Fresno State ID cards to receive a variety of free food and hygiene products.

Lamas credits University President Joseph I. Castro and first lady Mary Castro, donors and campus and community partners for the successful initiative.
