The University Dance Theatre at Fresno State will present “No Dance No Life” Nov. 19-21 with daily show times at 8 p.m. and an additional 2 p.m. Saturday matinee in the Lab School Theatre.
The Fresno State student cast created a production of choreographed dance pieces that range from high-energy hip hop to emotional contemporary. University Dance Theatre students worked through the fall semester to produce the show’s content, including lights, sound and dance composition.
“University Dance Theatre creates an environment for students to participate as a dancer, a production member and a choreographer,” said adviser Kenneth Balint, professor of theatre arts. “And through this creative process, University Dance Theatre continues to captivate and surprise audiences through dance.”
The goal is to provide talented students from all sectors of campus with a supportive and intellectually challenging dance-based environment. Members create, produce, rehearse and perform as a group.
“Each semester, I am excited to see how each student contributes through their own interpretation about what is dance and how it can relate to the world around us,” Balint said.
Tickets are $5, with general seating. Box office hours are noon-4 p.m. on weekdays, and tickets can be purchased at the door a half-hour before each performance.
Parking is free for shows on Friday and Saturday. For the Thursday show, parking permits are required and may be purchased at dispensers in parking lots on campus.
