Fresno State’s CineCulture film series will screen the documentary “What Our Fathers Did: A Nazi Legacy” at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 in the Leon S. and Pete P. Peters Educational Center (west of the Save Mart Center in the Student Recreation Center), followed by a discussion led by Dr. Peter Kenez, professor emeritus in history at University of California, Santa Cruz. The 92-minute film looks at the lives of two sons of Nazi governors, who despite opposing views of their fathers have forged a friendship. The men are challenged by a human rights lawyer and descendent of a Holocaust survivor whose family was murdered at the orders of the two fathers. The film, directed by David Evans, who is known for his work on British television drama “Downton Abbey.” Discussant Kenez, a Holocaust survivor, has taught Russian and modern European history since 1966 and has authored numerous books on Nazism and Communism. The screening is co-sponsored by the Jewish Studies Certificate Program and the Jewish Studies Association. All films screened on campus are free and open to the public.
