Fresno State’s CineCulture spring film series continues with a presentation of “Frame by Frame” at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, in the Peters Educational Center Auditorium (west of Save Mart Center in the Student Recreation Center) followed with a discussion led by co-director Mo Scarpelli. In 1996, the Taliban ordered a media blackout in Afghanistan and taking photograph became a crime. “Frame by Frame” follows four Afghan photojournalists that face the realities of building a free press in a country left to stand on its own – reframing Afghanistan for the world and for themselves. The film’s maker, Alexandria Bombach, is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker who lives on the road and sells all her belonging to tell a story she believes in. The 85-minute film also features one of the four photographers that won a Pulitzer Prize for Ground Breaking Photography. The Department of Art & Design, Middle East Studies Program and Alliance for Medical Outreach and Relief are the co-sponsor for the screening. All CineCulture events on campus are free and open to the public. Parking is free on weekends beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday.
