Fresno State students and employees can get tax help from the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) through the Fresno State Department of Accountancy in the Craig School of Business. Partnering with State Controller Betty Yee’s team, students who are IRS-certified volunteers help qualified taxpayers (families and individuals with household incomes of $54,000 or less) prepare and electronically file a basic tax return for free. Several sessions are scheduled through April 17 with appointments required online at https://fresnovitasite.youcanbook.me. Requirements are listed online. The sessions are held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays; 2 to 6 p.m. Fridays; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays (except during spring break March 24 to 27 when the campus is closed). Assistance is also available in Hindi, Hmong, Punjabi and Spanish. Additional languages may be available upon request. The campus VITA site is located in the Leon S. Peters Building, Room 301 (lower level). Parking is in Lot P6 with a free parking code available for Thursday and Friday appointments (parking is free on weekends beginning at 4 p.m. Fridays).
