Fresno State announced this morning that, effective immediately, hoverboards will not be allowed in any indoor spaces on campus because they are a potential fire hazard. The policy was recommended by the California State University Office of Risk Management in Long Beach for all 23 CSU campuses to make local decisions. “The safety of our students, faculty and staff is always our top priority,” said Debbie Adishian-Astone, interim vice president for Administration. She said Fresno State’s decision was made in consultation with the campus’ Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness Committee. The penalty for violating the new policy will initially result in warnings this semester, Astone said. This decision is in effect until further notice.
