University President Joseph I. Castro issued this statement: “The campus community extends our deepest sympathy to Joel’s family and friends. It’s always a tragedy when a young person with promise is lost.  We value each and every student at Fresno State, and this loss is very hard on so many of us. We ask that the community send their thoughts and prayers to the family during this difficult time.”
