SMC Shehadey Tower on campus to go purple tonight for Prince

Prince’s two visits to the campus will be remembered in a special tribute by the Save Mart Center at Fresno State with the lighting of the Larry C. Shehadey Clock Tower in purple tonight.

Prince died today at the age of 57. He performed in Fresno four times including his final two appearances at the center (April 2, 1983; Oct. 2, 1997; Sept. 4, 2004, May 18, 2011).

The SMC issued this statement today:

“Our hearts are saddened today here at Save Mart Center with the passing of Musical Legend and Icon Prince. Prince performed here at Save Mart Center on September 4, 2004 and May 18, 2011.

“In honor of his amazing talent and as a thank you for the memories he created for Fresno fans, tonight we will light the Save Mart Center clock tower purple. Here in the arena his music and spirit will live on forever. RIP Prince.”
