A free, public exhibition, “Mary Maughelli: Abstract Expressionism and Feminist Artwork,” opens Friday, Nov. 4, in the Leon S. Peters Ellipse Gallery in the Henry Madden Library at Fresno State with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Maughelli, a professor emerita, taught at Fresno State from 1962 to 1998. She died in October 2015. She was a prominent feminist artist, a contemporary of Judy Chicago and a founding member of Gallery 25. By downloading the smartphone app Aurasma and creating a free account before arriving, viewers can scan certain images throughout the exhibition and access additional content to enhance their experiences. Other multimedia components and several interviews with Maughelli will be available for viewing on monitors in the gallery.
