The Fresno State Choral Department will present “Personent Hodie,” a holiday concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, in the on-campus Concert Hall. Dr. Cari Earnhart, director of choral activities, will conduct the performances of the Fresno State Chamber Singers and the Fresno State Concert Choir. The program will feature seasonal classics including “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” and “Personent Hodie,” a Christmas carol originally published in a Finnish song book in 1582, as well as a juxtaposition of two arrangements of “O Magnum Mysterium,” a responsorial chant from the Matins of Christmas. The first concert, by 16th century Spanish composer Tomás Luis de Victoria, will be performed by the chamber singers. The concert choir will perform the second presentation, by 20th century composer Morten Lauridsen. The concert will also feature performances by Vivace and the Youth Chorale of the Bach Children’s Choir, a performance-oriented organization that provides musical opportunities for enrichment of students from an early age. Tickets are $15 general, $12 for employees and seniors and $6 for students. Details.
