The Fresno State Gibson Farm Market (5368 N. Chestnut Ave.) will offer special National Pistachio Day promotions from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 25. Customers can enjoy free samples of pistachios, pistachio ice cream and recipes and enter a raffle for a gift basket. Pistachio nuts and dark chocolate pistachio bark candy will be discounted 15 percent. The nut is one of the state’s most popular commodities since it was first planted in 1976, and California is now the leading producer internationally. Pistachios are also grown on the campus farm in a 25-acre orchard block that is used as a teaching resource for plant science and irrigation classes.
