The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) has helped over 900 Fresno State students and employees file their taxes through the Department of Accountancy in the Craig School of Business. VITA is made up of IRS-certified Fresno State student volunteers. The program helps taxpayers earning $54,000 or less prepare and file their taxes for free. This year, VITA helped taxpayers receive a total of $834,058 in federal tax refunds and $99,784 in state tax refunds. A total of 262 students volunteered for a cumulative 1,026 hours.
