Fresno State’s Experimental Theatre Company will present its spring production, “Den of Thieves” by Stephen Adly-Gurgis April 13 through 15 in the Lab School 101 Theatre. The production is directed by Fresno State student Danielle Valdivia.

Maggie is a young single woman trying to change her life. She and her sponsor, Paul, are part of a 12-step program intended to help recovering thieves. When Maggie’s no-good ex arrives and tells them about a large sum of unguarded drug money, she and Paul give in to their lesser instincts and decide to assist in the robbery. They are joined by the ex’s new girlfriend — a dancer with a third-grade reading level and a healthy dose of attitude. Predictably, things don’t go according to plan.

When the foursome finds themselves at the mercy of a reluctant gangster, they have no choice but to try and use their wits to escape. Louie “Little Tuna” Pescatore offers them a deal. From the madcap brain of Pulitzer-winning playwright Adly-Gurgis comes a dark comedy about survival, theft and donuts.

The cast includes Arium Andrews, Ian Jones, Alexis Macedo, Sophia McCurry, Rachel Roberson, Joshua Slack and Andrew Trevino.

Performances are April 13 at 4 and 8 p.m., April 14 at 7:30 p.m. and April 15 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $5 general admission. Box office hours are noon to 4 p.m. on weekdays and 30 minutes before each performance. Parking is free for shows on Friday through Sunday night.
