The Press at California State University, Fresno, will celebrate several of its recently published authors at a reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, at the Smittcamp Alumni House. Featured authors and publications will include Armen Bacon, author of “My Name is Armen (Volume II), Outside the Lines”;  local folk musician and music educator Evo Bluestein, author of “Road to Sweet’s Mill: The West Coast Folk Music Revival in the 1960s and ’70s”; Dr. Gerald R. McMenamin, author of “Introducción a la Lingüística Forense,” a Spanish-language textbook for college courses in forensic linguistics; the Armenian Series, established at The Press through the Armenian Studies Program; the Center for Creativity and the Arts, which has produced several companion catalogs to recent exhibitions including “Unsung Heroes: Do You Know Who I Am? A Pictorial Exhibit Honoring Central Valley African American Veterans,” “Magnifying the People’s Voice: A Laureate’s Journey Across America” and “Elotes con Sangre, the Journey Home”; and The Normal School, a biannual literary journal produced by Fresno State’s Master of Fine Arts in creative writing. The mission of The Press is to publish great literature by both emerging and established voices, scholarly books that expand the horizons of human knowledge and other works that promote the rich cultural heritage of California’s Central Valley. The Press, housed within the College of Arts and Humanities at Fresno State, is the only university press in the California State University system.
