Mona M. Nyandoro, whose extensive public service experience internationally and in the U.S. includes Peace Corps volunteer and staff work, was appointed director of development for the Kremen School of Education and Human Development at California State University, Fresno.

She succeeds Sue Moore Fenske, who is moving to Kentucky with her family, two years after joining the Fresno State development team.

The appointment was announced by Mary Anna Dunn, associate vice president and director of the Campaign for Fresno State, who said Nyandoro’s Peace Corps experience “has given her a unique perspective on philanthropic work.”

As director of development, Nyandoro is responsible for cultivating commitments in support of the Kremen School, the region’s premier educator of teachers.

In the Peace Corps, Dunn said, Nyandoro “recruited people to invest two years of their lives in a cause that matched their values. For the Kremen School, Mona will be working with individuals and organizations to invest their time and their financial resources in the cause of education.”

Nyandoro graduated from Missouri State University with a bachelor of science degree in biology, then joined the Peace Corps, serving in West Africa for two years. She also worked for a homeless shelter in Springfield, Mo., for Americorps in Washington, D.C., for Operation Crossroads Africa (as a group leader in Tanzania and Brazil) before serving five years as a Peace Corps senior regional recruiter based in Oakland.
